A couple of weeks ago, I started a new series on freezer door cocktails. If the term is new to you, it's an all-in-one pre-mixed drink right in the liquor bottle that can be made ahead and left in the freezer until ready to serve (or just to have a delicious cocktail on hand at all times). Thank you to bhg.com for the background information.

Freezer Door Math

How many ounces are in a 750 ml bottle of spirits? The answer is 25.3 ounces.

If you are making a freezer door cocktail, you just use the original proportions of a 3-2-1 and divide everything into the 25 ounces. Don't worry about taking notes as I am giving out the ingredients and instructions. They are always posted on our website.

The Freezer Door Old Fashioned Recipe

So, the Freezer Door Old Fashioned looks like this: Start with a 750 ml bottle of Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. Pour off 10 ounces. Add 8 ounces of simple syrup and 2 ounces of good quality bitters. When you go to make the cocktail, make sure the top is tight and give the bottle a thorough shake. Pour about 3 1/2 ounces into an old-fashioned glass. Add one big ice cube and top with 1-3 Luxardo cherries along with a little of the syrup.

As always, I am open to hearing your take and your input. You can reach me at [email protected].
